The fine print

Your privacy.

What happens to your information here, in plain language. Last updated October 20, 2026.

Hi, I’m Jessica. You trusted me enough to visit, so I want to be upfront about what happens to your information here. This page explains what Block Out the Noise (blockoutthenoisepodcast.com) collects, how it’s used, who helps me run the site, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email me at jessica@blockoutthenoisepodcast.com.

Who runs this site

This site is owned and run by Block Out the Noise, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company founded by Jessica Davis, a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and mindset coach. When this page says “I” or “me,” it means Jessica and Block Out the Noise, LLC. You can reach me anytime at jessica@blockoutthenoisepodcast.com.

What this site collects

What you share with me

  • Newsletter and free downloads. Your email address, and your name if you give it. Signups are handled by Substack, and a few older forms use beehiiv.
  • The contact form. Your name, email, message and whether you’d like to join the email list. These are stored on this website and copied to a private spreadsheet so I can reply to you.
  • Emails you send me. Whatever you choose to include.
  • Purchases. If you ever buy something from me, your payment is handled by a secure payment company. I see your name, email and what you bought, never your full card number.

What’s collected automatically

  • Visits to the site. Google Analytics and Metricool help me see which pages people read, how they found the site and how long they stay.
  • Device details. Things like your browser, operating system, type of device, IP address and approximate location.
  • Cookies. Small files these tools save in your browser so they can recognize a returning visitor.

From the services built into the site

  • Videos and podcast players. YouTube and Buzzsprout may set their own cookies when you watch or listen.
  • Spam protection. Akismet checks form submissions for spam, so your submission and IP address may be sent to its service.

I don’t ask for health information, and I’d gently ask you not to share it here. If you do share something personal in a message, I’ll treat it with care. Just know this website is not a confidential channel the way therapy records are.

How your information is used

  • To send you the newsletter and the free tools you asked for
  • To reply when you get in touch
  • To understand what’s helpful so the site keeps getting better
  • To keep spam out
  • To follow the law when I have to

If you sign up, you’ll get my newsletter plus the occasional note about new episodes, free tools or things I create. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave anytime. No hard feelings.

Who your information is shared with

I never sell your personal information. It’s only shared in these situations:

  • With the services that help run this site, such as email, analytics, hosting and spam protection
  • When the law requires it, like a court order
  • If Block Out the Noise ever becomes part of another business, your information would move with it under the same promises
  • As anonymous totals that can’t identify you, like how many people visited the toolkit page this month

Cookies, and how to say no

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s free browser add-on. The site still works without them.

Links to other sites

This site links to places like Substack, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Facebook. Each of them has its own privacy policy, and I’m not responsible for how they handle your information.

If you live outside the United States

This site is run from the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there. By using the site, you agree to that.

How long your information is kept

Only as long as it’s needed for the reason you gave it, or as long as the law requires. You can ask me to delete it sooner at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including California, the European Union and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to:

  • See the personal information I hold about you
  • Correct it if it’s wrong
  • Ask me to delete it
  • Object to or limit how it’s used
  • Take back consent you gave earlier
  • Stop marketing emails
  • Complain to your local data protection authority

To ask for any of these, email jessica@blockoutthenoisepodcast.com and I’ll get back to you.

Keeping it safe

The site uses a secure connection and sensible safeguards, but nothing sent over the internet is ever completely secure. If something goes wrong that affects your information, I’ll let you know as quickly as I can and as the law requires.

This is not a therapy service

Nothing you share through this website creates a therapist-client relationship. If you’re in crisis, contact emergency services or a local helpline. You don’t have to go through it alone.

Children

This site is written for adults. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has shared information here, email me and I’ll delete it.

Changes to this page

I may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If I make a big change, I’ll let you know by email or with a note on the site.
